Shwedagon is a unique pagoda in Myanmar. It is located in the capital city Rangoon . It lies in the west of the Lake Kandawgya on the top of Singuttara hill and it is a dominant of the whole town.

Shwedagon is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Myanmar. According to a legend Shwedagon pagoda is 2500 years old. Archaeologists are convinced that it was built in the 6th century AD. In 1930 it was destroyed after a large earthquake and had to be rebuilt.Shwedagon pagoda is 98 meters high and it is entirely gold-plated.
