Tay An Temple is a unique Buddhist temple in Vietnam. It is located in the southern part of the country in the region of đồng bằng sông Cá»u Long, near the city of Chau Doc. The construction of Tay An Temple was ordered by emperor Doãn Uẩn in 1847. Throughout the second half of the 19th century until 1958 it was continuously reconstructed and extended. In 1958 three-storey tower was built.

The architecture of Tay An temple is a mixture of Indian style with local patterns. In the front courtyard, near the triple gate is a statue of Bódhisattva Avalokiteshvara and statues of two elephants - a black one with two tusks and a white one with six tusks. In the main temple there are about 200 Buddha statues, mainly wooden. Most of them were made by local craftsmen in the 19th century.Several major tourist attractions can be mentioned in the town’s surroundings, like Phnom Penh about 99 km, Temple Sac Tu Tam Bao about 74 km
